MGA Excellence in Garden Writing Award
2010 MGA Excellence in Garden Writing Award Program has been put on hiatus until further notice.
The MGA Excellence in Garden Writing Award honors the best published story about garden catalogs and/or websites each year. This award is sponsored by the Direct Gardening Association, the largest nonprofit association of garden catalogs and websites in the world.
JOHN HOGAN WINS 2009 MGA EXCELLENCE IN GARDEN WRITING AWARD
The winner of the $1,000 prize in the first annual MGA Excellence in Garden Writing Award is John Hogan. John’s story, “Mailorder gardening begins with a vision,” appeared in the Grand Rapids Press. Congratulations, John!
“John Hogan’s story was selected by the judges because it skillfully presented the allure of mailorder gardening catalogs both as resources for new plants and products and as ‘dream books’ that provide nourishment for gardeners’ souls in the middle of winter,” said Randy Schultz, PR Director for the Direct Gardening Association.
Garden writers who are members of the Garden Writers Association are encouraged to enter their stories about mailorder garden catalogs and websites into the 2010 MGA Excellence in Garden Writing Award competition. The competition is sponsored by the Direct Gardening Association, the nonprofit trade group that represents direct-to-consumer gardening companies. The winning story for the 2010 award, which must be published between July 1, 2009 and June 30, 2010, will receive the $1,000 prize. To receive more information and an official registration form, send an email to Randy Schultz at schultz@schultzpr.com or visit www.directgardeningassociation.com.
